How to spot a genuine Black Friday mattress deal
Ignore the crossed-out price. Online mattress brands run sales for much of the year, so the full price is often a number almost nobody pays. The fair comparison is what the mattress sold for in October.
Compare the same size. Headline “up to 50% off” offers are usually on one size or one model. Check the discount on the size you actually need.
Count the bundle, not just the price. Free pillows, a protector or a base can be worth more than an extra 5% off, but only if you would have bought them anyway.
Check the trial still applies. A long home trial is worth more than a small extra discount, because it lets you return a mattress that doesn’t suit you. See our guide to mattress trial periods.

Some are, many are not. Several online mattress brands run a sale for most of the year, so the crossed-out price is rarely what anyone pays. Judge a deal against the price the mattress has actually sold for over the previous month, not against its RRP. A genuine Black Friday deal is a lower price than that, or a better bundle (free pillows, a protector or a base) at the same price.
Is it worth waiting for Black Friday to buy a mattress?
If your current mattress will last another few weeks, usually yes: November is when the deepest discounts of the year tend to appear. If you need one now, buy now. The difference between a normal sale price and the Black Friday price is often smaller than the headline percentages suggest.
Do trial periods and warranties still apply to Black Friday mattresses?
Normally yes. Discounted mattresses usually come with the same home trial and warranty as full-price ones, but check the retailer's terms before you buy, particularly for clearance or ex-display stock.
