Who the Simba Hybrid Pro suits
The Pro is Simba's bestseller and the model that won Product of the Year 2026, and on specification it is easy to see why. It is where the range stops being a bed-in-a-box and starts behaving like a traditional sprung mattress: two layers of Aerocoil® microsprings, a wool comfort layer and, crucially, a base of up to 1,000 pocketed steel SupportCore™ springs.
It is our pick in the range for back pain, for couples who need the whole width of the bed, and for heavier sleepers who compress lesser hybrids. If your budget stops below £1,000, the Simba Hybrid gives you most of the feel for considerably less; if you want plush rather than supportive, look at the Luxe.
Construction and materials
Eight layers across 28cm. The cover uses Stratos®, a cool-touch phase-change treatment, and zips off for washing. Beneath it is a layer of British wool for breathability and softness, then, optionally, the HeatRelease™ graphite strips. Next come fresh Simbatex® foam, two layers of patented Aerocoil® microsprings totalling up to 3,800, a stabilising CertiPUR® core, the SupportCore™ sprung base of up to 1,000 pocketed steel barrel springs, and a high-density foam base.
The sprung base is the structural difference from everything below it in the range. Pocketed steel at the base is what gives a mattress firm support right to the perimeter, and it is why the Pro is the first Simba we would recommend without qualification to heavier sleepers.
Comfort and support
We score the Pro 9.2 for support, the second highest in the range, and 9.1 for comfort. Two microspring layers mean the cradling happens over a deeper span, so the medium-firm feel is cushioned rather than hard, while the steel base stops the hips dropping. For back sleepers with lower-back pain this is the combination the evidence favours: a firm supporting structure with enough surface give to fill the lumbar curve.
Side sleepers are well served too, with the wool and microspring layers absorbing the shoulder, though the Luxe remains the plusher option. Front sleepers will find it supportive enough to keep the hips from sinking.
Temperature
The Pro attacks heat on three fronts: the Stratos® cool-touch cover, the naturally breathable wool layer and graphite-infused Simbatex® foam, over two open microspring layers. Simba also sells the HeatRelease™ upgrade on this model, graphite strips it says draw heat away and keep you up to 4.4°C cooler (Simba's own figure, not one we have measured). If overheating is your main complaint, that upgrade is the most direct fix in the range short of buying the Ultra.
Edge support and motion isolation
Edge support is the Pro's standout practical advantage. The pocketed steel base supports the perimeter, so you can sleep or sit near the edge without the roll-off feeling foam-based hybrids give. Motion isolation stays excellent, because the pocketed springs and individually compressing microsprings both localise movement, making this a strong choice for couples with different schedules.
Durability, trial and guarantee
Steel sprung bases generally outlast foam cores, so the Pro should hold its shape longer than the foam-based models below it, particularly under heavier sleepers. It comes with the same 200-night trial and 10-year guarantee as the rest of the range. At 28cm you will need deep fitted sheets, and it is heavy enough that rotating it is a two-person job.
Our verdict
The Hybrid Pro is the most complete mattress Simba makes at a price that still has some logic to it. Its 7.9 value score is the cost of admission: £1,299 for a double is a lot of money next to the sub-£700 hybrids we rate well. But for back pain, edge support and heavier sleepers it is the model in this range we would actually buy.
