Who the Majestic 9000 Extra Firm suits
The Majestic 9000 is for people who already know they want a firm mattress. Front sleepers, back sleepers who wake with lower back ache on softer beds, and anyone who has been advised to sleep on a supportive surface. A 9.1 support score at a sale price around £273 is the best support-per-pound figure in the Luxe range.

Construction and materials
Twenty-three centimetres of high-density reflex foam over an orthopaedic support core, under a quilted cover. Reflex foam resists compression rather than moulding to you, which is what produces the firm, on-top-of-the-mattress feel that distinguishes orthopaedic builds from memory foam ones.
High-density foam also has a durability advantage: there is more polymer per cubic centimetre to resist taking a permanent set, which is why firm reflex mattresses tend to outlast soft memory foam ones at the same price.
Comfort and support
We score it 9.1 for support and 7.4 for comfort, and that 1.7-point spread is the most extreme on this site. It tells you exactly what you are buying: uncompromising spinal support, with very little in the way of cushioning.

On your back, the pelvis stays level and the lumbar curve is supported. On your side, the shoulder simply does not sink, and within a few nights most side sleepers will have sore shoulders to show for it.
Temperature
There is no cooling technology here, but firm mattresses have a structural advantage on temperature: you rest on the surface rather than sinking into it, so more of your body is exposed to the air. In practice the Majestic 9000 runs cooler than any soft foam mattress we list despite having nothing cooling in its specification.
Edge support and motion isolation
Edge support is a genuine strength. High-density reflex foam resists compression at the perimeter just as it does in the middle, so the full width stays usable and sitting on the side does not collapse it – better than most foam mattresses at any price. Motion isolation is the trade-off: firm foam transmits movement more readily than memory foam, so a restless partner will be noticeable.
Durability, trial and warranty
High-density reflex foam is one of the more durable materials at this price. At its recurring sale price of around £273, the Majestic 9000 is the best-value orthopaedic mattress we list, and the 100-night trial means the firmness gamble costs you nothing. The 7.4 comfort score is not a criticism so much as a description, this mattress trades cushioning for support deliberately. If that is the trade you want, few things at any price do it better.
