Durability#

Where the extra money goes#
A Luxe hybrid on sale costs roughly double a top-end Foam People mattress. Four things account for the gap:
- Springs. A pocket-spring core changes edge support, airflow and how the mattress handles body weight in ways foam cannot copy. Every Luxe hybrid and spring model has one; no Foam People model does.
- Depth. Luxe hybrids run 28–33cm; The Foam People top out at 23cm. Deeper builds hold their firmness better over years.2
- The trial. A hundred nights to return it is a real cost to the manufacturer, which is priced in.
- Natural fillings. Wool, silk, cotton and latex appear across the Luxe range; The Foam People use synthetic covers, with cashmere-blend on one model.
None of that makes The Foam People a worse buy for the job they are built for. It makes them a different product: an inexpensive foam mattress made to your measurements, rather than a long-term main bed with a safety net.
Reading Luxe's prices honestly#
Luxe's list prices are high and most models run a near-permanent discount, so a "£619" LuxeErgo 3400 is a £464 mattress in practice. Judge it at that price. The Foam People do the opposite: the price you see is the price, with no sale cycle to wait for. When you compare the two, put Luxe's sale price next to The Foam People's fixed price and ignore the RRP column entirely.

For a main bed you will sleep on nightly for years, usually yes: you get springs, 28–33cm of depth, a 100-night trial and a 10-year warranty. For a spare room, a child's room or a non-standard frame, The Foam People do the job for a fraction of the price.
Which brand is cheaper?#
The Foam People. Their most expensive double is £198; Luxe's cheapest sale price is £273 for the Majestic 9000. Compare Luxe on its sale price rather than its RRP, because most models are permanently reduced.
Does either brand offer a home trial?#
