Best memory foam mattresses in the UK (2026)
Memory foam contours to your body, isolates movement better than any spring and is the material most bed-in-a-box brands are built on. It also runs warm, and cheap foam sags quickly. The difference between a good and bad memory foam mattress is bigger than in any other category.
These are the memory foam mattresses that scored highest overall in our testing.

How we picked
Every all-foam mattress in our catalogue, ranked by overall score across support, comfort and value. Hybrids with a foam top layer are listed separately on our hybrid page.
Scores are set by Alexander Bowman using the criteria on our how we score page. We may earn a commission when you buy through our links; this never affects a score or a ranking.

Take the quizBest memory foam: frequently asked questions
Do memory foam mattresses sleep hot?
Traditional memory foam does, because it is dense and traps body heat. Most current mattresses use open-cell or gel-infused foam and a breathable cover to counter this. If you sleep hot, a hybrid with springs underneath will move more air than any all-foam design.
How long does a memory foam mattress last?
A good one lasts seven to ten years. Foam density is the main predictor: below about 40kg/m³ in the support layer, expect body impressions within a few years. Warranty length is a useful proxy, since brands do not offer ten years on foam they expect to sag.
Can you flip a memory foam mattress?
Usually not. Most memory foam mattresses have a comfort layer on top and a firmer support base underneath, so flipping puts you on the wrong side. Rotate it head to foot every few months instead. A few dual-sided models are the exception.
