About Hypnos#

Hypnos Limited is a British mattress manufacturer based in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, founded in 1901. The brand holds a Royal Warrant of Appointment as supplier of beds and mattresses to HM The King — a rare distinction in the mattress industry. Hypnos is the supplier of choice for hundreds of luxury hotels globally, including Claridge's, The Savoy and numerous five-star international properties. They manufacture all their products in their Buckinghamshire factory using sustainably sourced materials.

Hypnos mattresses are sold through selected independent retailers and department stores. They are not available from online direct-to-consumer channels. Their range starts at around £900 for a double and extends to over £4,000 for the most premium models.

Hypnos construction philosophy#

Hypnos takes a traditional approach to mattress construction that differs fundamentally from foam-first online brands:

  • Double-sided design: Unlike nearly all modern mattresses, most Hypnos mattresses are double-sided — meaning they can and should be flipped as well as rotated. This dramatically extends longevity.

The price is high, but the longevity makes the cost per night competitive with budget alternatives.
