What mattress does Premier Inn use?#
Premier Inn uses the Premier Inn Mattress 2.0, made exclusively by Silentnight. It is a 28.5cm medium-firm mattress with 1,000 Mirapocket springs and a gel-infused Geltex comfort layer, and it has been the standard bed across Premier Inn hotels since the rollout began in October 2022. You can buy the same mattress for your own bedroom from Premier Inn At Home, where a double costs £799.
If you have read elsewhere that Premier Inn uses Hypnos, that was true for years but is now out of date. Whitbread, Premier Inn's parent company, announced Silentnight as its official bed supplier in August 2022, and the beds were replaced across the UK, Ireland, Germany and the UAE from that October.

Whitbread says the specification came out of a two-year tender process that included research from hundreds of trial overnight stays. Whatever you make of the marketing, that is an unusual amount of testing for a mattress, and it is a fair reason the bed has the reputation it does.
Can you buy the Premier Inn mattress?#
Yes. Premier Inn sells it directly through Premier Inn At Home. Prices as listed on 21 September 2026:

Delivery is next-day on orders placed before 2:30pm, old mattress recycling is offered from £40, and Klarna is available. The mattress carries a six-year guarantee.
One thing to go in with your eyes open about: there is no sleep trial advertised. Most mattresses sold online in the UK come with one, 100 nights is typical and Nectar offers 365. With the Premier Inn mattress, the way you try before you buy is to stay in a Premier Inn, which is arguably the point.
Why do older articles still say Premier Inn uses Hypnos?#
Because for years they did, and a great deal of content written during that period has never been updated. Hypnos supplied Premier Inn's beds for a long stretch before Whitbread ran the tender that Silentnight won in 2022. Articles, forum threads and retailer pages published before then are still online, still ranking, and still telling people to go and buy a Hypnos if they want the Premier Inn bed.
There is a second reason, which is commercial. A number of independent bed shops sell Hypnos models described as "the Premier Inn mattress" or "Premier Inn style", because that association drove sales for the best part of two decades. Those are Hypnos mattresses, and some of them are very good, but they are not what you slept on if your stay was after 2022.

Is the Premier Inn mattress worth it?#
At £799 for a double it sits in the upper-middle of the UK market, and you are paying partly for a specification and partly for a memory. The specification is decent rather than remarkable: 1,000 pocket springs at 28.5cm is a solid mid-range build, and the Geltex layer is a genuine cooling technology rather than marketing language.
The weak points are the six-year guarantee, which is shorter than the ten years offered across much of the market, and the absence of a trial. Our guide to trial periods explains why that matters more than most buyers expect: the research is clear that mattress comfort is highly individual, and a bed that suited you for two nights on holiday may not suit you for two thousand nights at home.1
It is also worth knowing that Silentnight sells 1,000-Mirapocket mattresses under its own name, starting at £309 for a single in the Comfort Breathe range. That is not the same mattress, the Premier Inn model is exclusive and adds the Geltex layer, but if the spring system is what you are chasing, the brand sells it more cheaply without the hotel badge. What to buy if you want that hotel feel#

No sleep trial is advertised, which is unusual for a mattress sold online. The guarantee runs for six years. If a home trial matters to you, most direct-sold UK brands offer between 100 and 365 nights.
How firm is the Premier Inn mattress?#
Medium-firm. That is the firmness band that suits the widest range of sleepers, and the one most often supported in the clinical literature for spinal alignment and back pain.1 It is a sensible choice for a hotel, which has to please everyone.
Can you still buy the old Hypnos Premier Inn mattress?#
